Alan Dyer is the Associate Director of Music at First Unitarian Church of Dallas and the Founder and Artistic Director of The Texas Voices, a Dallas-based professional chamber choir. He is also a pianist for Texas A&M University-Commerce, where he accompanies choral ensembles and voice students.
A widely respected choral director, performer, and music educator, Dyer has a passion for nurturing the development of new works and providing collaborative performance opportunities for area musicians. Throughout his career, Dyer has worked with renowned choral directors such as Dr. Lloyd Pfautsch and John Rutter. He has performed with ensembles throughout North Texas, including the Dallas Wind Symphony, Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas, Orpheus Chamber Singers, Plano Civic Chorus, and numerous church and school choirs. He has served as an adjunct faculty member at area colleges, including Texas Woman’s University, Richland College, and Collin College.
Dyer earned his master’s degree in piano pedagogy from Southern Methodist University and his bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Dallas Baptist University. He is active in the American Choral Directors Association and the Texas Choral Directors Association. He has performed in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, including a special organ performance at the Vatican.
